This Privacy Policy explains how Shift Swimwear ("Shift", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares your personal information when you visit shiftswimwear.com (the "Site"), buy from us, or contact us.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Orders: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number and order details.
  • Payments: payment details are handled securely by our payment providers (for example Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay). We don't store your full card details.
  • Newsletter and marketing: your email address, and phone number if you choose to sign up for text messages.
  • Customer service: anything you send us, such as emails, photos or reviews.

Information collected automatically

When you browse the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect information about your device and how you use the Site. This includes:

  • your IP address, browser type, time zone, and the pages and products you view;
  • how you arrived at the Site, such as an ad or a search; and
  • actions like adding to cart or starting checkout.

We collect this using cookies, pixels, tags, log files and similar technologies.

How we use your information

  • To process and deliver your orders, send order and shipping updates, and handle returns and the Happiness Guarantee.
  • To reply to your questions and provide customer support.
  • To send you marketing emails or texts where you've agreed to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To show you relevant ads on other platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram, and to measure how well our ads work.
  • To screen orders for fraud, keep the Site secure, and improve our products and Site.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

Sharing your information

We don't sell your personal information for money. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business, and only as needed:

  • Shopify, which hosts our store, checkout, and email and text marketing tools (Shopify's privacy policy);
  • payment providers that process your payment;
  • fulfilment partners, shipping carriers and tracking services that pack, ship and track your order. Some are located outside your country, including in Asia and the United States;
  • advertising and analytics partners such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. We use their pixels and conversion tools to measure ads and show relevant ads. We may also share hashed (encrypted) contact details with them to build custom and lookalike audiences, and to avoid showing ads to existing customers where appropriate; and
  • review and customer service tools we use to collect reviews and answer your questions.

We may also share information when required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a business sale or transfer.

Email and text marketing

If you sign up for our emails or texts, we'll send you news, new colourways and offers.

  • To stop emails, unsubscribe using the link in any email.
  • To stop texts, reply STOP to any message. Message and data rates may apply.

Signing up is never a condition of buying from us.

International transfers

We're based in the United States and serve customers in Australia and other countries. Your information may be stored and processed in the United States, Australia, Canada, Asia and other countries where our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to make sure your information stays protected when it's transferred.

Keeping your information

We keep order information for as long as we need it for our records, tax and accounting purposes, and to support any guarantee or warranty claims, unless you ask us to delete it and we're not required to keep it. Marketing information is kept until you unsubscribe.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct or delete it;
  • object to or restrict how we use it; or
  • ask for a copy of it.

This includes rights under:

  • the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles;
  • the GDPR (for people in the EU and UK); and
  • US state privacy laws such as California's CCPA/CPRA. Residents of those states can also opt out of the use of their information for targeted advertising.

Children

We sell kids' swimwear, but our Site is intended for adults. Purchases must be made by a parent, guardian or other adult. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
